Notes

A panel discussion under the auspices of the Oxford Centre for Life-Writing, chaired by Robert Cottrell, to mark the publication of Henry Hardy's new book: IN SEARCH OF ISAIAH BERLIN: A LITERARY ADVENTURE (I.B. Tauris), with the author, Timothy Garton Ash and David Herman. Henry Hardy has been Berlin's principal editor since 1974, and has now (co-)edited eighteen of his books, and a four-volume edition of his letters. He is one of the three original trustees of the Isaiah Berlin Literary Trust, set up by Berlin in 1996 to handle his literary affairs. ‘An extraordinary book, IN SEARCH OF ISAIAH BERLIN tells the story of a twenty-five year collaboration between Isaiah Berlin and his editor, Henry Hardy, told via previously unpublished letters that are as delightful as they are revealing of Berlin’s personality and ideas.’ Michael Ignatieff, Berlin's biographer.
